Why Backflow?
Backflow prevention devices in PA are required by state plumbing codes and by local water authorities to be tested annually. This essential test is done to ensure that the public water supply remains safe!
These devices are typically found where public water enters your building. They will be on the domestic water supply as well as on your fire sprinkler line.
Backflow prevention devices may also be found throughout your facility. These devices (typically referred to as "Isolation" devices) should also be tested annually to ensure that the water supply inside your building is still safe!

These devices are found in facilities that pose a low risk to the public water supply. They have (2) check valves that are designed to prevent water from backflowing into the pubic water system.

These devices are required where the facility poses a high risk to the public water supply. There is a "differential zone" that will allow any backflow of water to discharge to the atmosphere before getting to the second check valve.
